Technology
Originating from EPFL research, our patented catalyst enables the efficient conversion of ammonia into hydrogen. Unlike existing technologies, Brightank’s catalyst operates at lower temperatures, is made from non-rare materials, and is significantly more cost-effective. This breakthrough allows industries to adopt ammonia as a reliable energy and/or hydrogen carrier for decarbonization, whether it’s powering heavy mobility, off-grid sites, or entire regions.
Customised for your needs
Our R&D team customizes our catalyst portfolio to meet your unique needs, whether in spheres, pellets, or membranes. At Brightank, we believe in collaborative partnerships to accelerate decarbonization with care, trust, and a shared commitment to a sustainable future.
Cost-Effective
Made of non-rare materials, lowering final cost.
Energy Efficient
Converts ammonia into hydrogen with reduced energy consumption, low temperature and stability over time.
Everywhere
Supports decarbonization in many industries at the point of use, from on-site industry to on-board heavy mobility.
Scalable Now
Compatible with existing global ammonia infrastructure.

How it works
Ammonia becomes a powerful and practical fuel when combined with Brightank’s innovative catalyst, paving the way for a sustainable future. Here’s how it works:
Production, storage, and transport
Ammonia is produced globally on a megaton scale (>200 million tons per year), is easily stored as a liquid, and is transported using existing infrastructure.
Brightank catalytic conversion
Brightank’s catalyst converts ammonia into hydrogen or a controlled blend of hydrogen and ammonia, ready for use in fuel cells, carbon-free combustion engines, and industrial applications. The process requires a reactor, low heat to start, is highly efficient, and operates at low temperatures.

Applications
Heavy Mobility
Ammonia, whether partially blended or fully converted into hydrogen can fuel ships or other heavy vehicles, offering a range comparable to traditional fuel and making it ideal for long-haul transportation.
Hydrogen Supply
Ammonia offers an efficient way to transport, store, and supply hydrogen for various energy needs, including hydrogen refilling stations or industrial ammonia-to-hydrogen conversion terminals.
Power Generation
Ammonia provides a sustainable and flexible energy solution for remote locations or industrial sites, having the possibility to store over the long term with reliability and offer an extended working range.
